Maclean Park Skatepark Redevelopment – A Community Hub in the Making

The Maclean Park Skatepark in Paraparaumu is undergoing a major transformation, replacing its outdated asphalt and concrete layout with a modern, high-quality concrete facility. Designed to engage skaters and scooter riders of all ages and skill levels, the new skatepark aims to provide a more accessible and dynamic experience for the community.

A standout feature of the redevelopment is the installation of international-standard lighting. These advanced lighting systems will enhance safety and visibility after dark, extending the park’s usability into the evening hours. The lighting supports casual use, community gatherings, and the potential for events and competitions—helping to activate the space well into the night.

With a built-in safety-off feature, the lighting installation reduces to low illumination when approaching the switch-off time at the end of the day.

335 LTD played a key role in the project, supporting the resource consenting process with technical advice and delivering the full electrical design. This included lighting modelling, documentation, construction monitoring, and commissioning. Throughout the process, 335 LTD worked closely with the Kāpiti Coast District Council PMO office and Parks team, as well as key project partners including Rich Landscapes, Angus McMillan Concrete, and Stones Electrical Services.

The redeveloped skatepark is set to become a vibrant, welcoming space that brings people together through sport, recreation, and community connection.
